Licensed since 2019, when Health Canada added it to InMode’s Class III licence 101725. The licence states no use; the 2020 operator manual this page read states it as “electrocoagulation and hemostasis” (sealing tissue and stopping bleeding), not skin tightening. The FDA cleared the Morpheus8 90 applicator in June 2024, filing K240017, by finding it equivalent to a device already on the market. The College of Nurses of Ontario’s guideline on aesthetic services (2026) names microneedling among the services nurses provide, and states that a procedure involving a controlled act needs an order or directive from a nurse practitioner or physician. Two of Ontario’s controlled acts apply: performing a procedure on tissue below the dermis, where the needles work, and applying a prescribed form of energy, since the Controlled Acts regulation prescribes electricity for electrocoagulation, the use the operator manual states. For active acne and early scars, of 139 people treated with Morpheus8, 7 of the 29 followed for three years relapsed, against 36 of 54 on isotretinoin and 12 of 16 after laser. For old scars, 49 people had four sessions of several treatments together with Morpheus8, and their mean scar score went from 178 to 132, so the paper cannot say what Morpheus8 alone did.
